Individual CPD Credit-Rated Units and modules from faculty of Education (FoE) programmes of study

Credit-Rated activities are those in which participation is valued by credits. Each activity is aligned to a higher education framework and carries a specified number of credits.
Credit-rated activities may have duration beyond one year so participation in any credit-rated activity will count as your CPD whilst you are enrolled on the unit, module, or award. We ask members to complete a minimum of 10 credits over three years, however, RAD CPD awards would exceed this in a year.
You can complete your Credit-Rated CPD by taking part in CPD Credit-Rated units, RAD Professional Awards delivered through CPD and university validated awards delivered through CPD.
Professional Awards delivered through CPD
The newly designed Professional Awards delivered through CPD allow teachers to gain a RAD validated award by studying topics which will support and enhance their professional practice. These have been devised specifically with dance teachers in mind, with work being scheduled outside of term time. The aim of these diplomas is to provide you with the skills needed to diversify your dance career. These awards will include:
- Professional Diploma in Mentoring
- Professional Diploma in Examining
- Professional Diploma in Dance Business Management
- Professional Diploma in Dance Practice with Adults
Full details will be released in the RAD CPD Prospectus in 2013.
University validated awards delivered through CPD
These awards are intended to provide an opportunity for dance teachers, who already have an undergraduate dance or related degree, to gain breadth and depth of dance subject knowledge to support their professional activities. Full details will be released in the RAD CPD Prospectus in 2013.
Individual CPD Credit-Rated Units and modules from faculty of Education (FoE) programmes of study
Another way of fulfilling your CPD requirement is by participating in individual CPD units or modules from FoE programmes of study. These modules will cover a diverse range of topics, and allow you to try credit-rated study without committing to a full award. They are the perfect introduction to Credit-Rated CPD. External You will also meet your CPD requirement if you are enrolled on a publicly recognised programme of study at a Higher Education Institute.
Trevor has just graduated from the Professional Dancers Teaching Diploma (PDTD) and is keen to carry on studying. He is teaching a few classes a week. His interest is teaching children with special needs so he has decided to undertake a Professional Diploma. The deadlines for assessment submissions fit in well with his teaching, as they fall in holiday time. Trevor is a night owl, so he can complete reading and assessments in the comfort of his own home at a time which suits his lifestyle.

Maria has been teaching for twenty years on most evenings and weekends. She was thinking about undertaking some further study maybe a professional qualification or degree, but she was not sure if she is going to manage the workload, or what she might be asked to do. For her CPD Maria enrolled on the Frameworks and Perspectives module (20 credits). She was keen to see if she could manage to meet assessment deadlines whilst teaching full time. She was delighted to pass the module, and decided for her CPD next year to enrol on the Professional Diploma in Dance Practice for Adults.
