Professional Dancers Teaching Diploma
This programme is specifically designed to meet the needs of the professional dancer wishing to gain the necessary knowledge, skills and experience in order to teach and extend career and employment opportunities.
The programme is full-time and is delivered over an intensive 12 week period in the summer (June to August). Students study three modules on Professional Values and Practice (PD1); Dance Curricula (PDTD2) and Learning & Teaching (PD3).
The programme includes the fundamentals of ballet teachnique, RAD syllabi, observation of teaching, peer teaching, supervised teaching of young students, teaching strategies, safe practice, managing the classroom and assessment for dance. Classes, workshops, lectures, seminars and tutorials are delivered by a team of specialist staff, many of whom have made the transition from dancer to teacher ... and beyond.
Successful completion of the programme leads to the award of PDTD and eligibility for RAD Registered Teacher Status (RTS).
Applicants for this programme will have significant professional experience with a dance company, a first degree or equivalent experiential learning, and be able to study in English.
